Research
Themes and questions that shape my research.
Research Focus
I combine theory and numerical modeling to understand how ocean circulation shapes climate across a wide range of planetary environments. My north star is to uncover the mechanisms that organize large-scale circulation, regulate heat and tracer transport, and drive nontrivial climate transitions on Earth and beyond.
Icy moon oceans
Investigating ocean circulation beneath icy shells and what these alien oceans reveal about habitability.
Neoproterozoic Snowball Earth oceans
Exploring ocean circulation and biogeochemistry during Neoproterozoic Snowball Earth events.
Dynamic controls on surface ocean circulation
How the shape of an ocean basin influences western boundary currents, heat transport, and implications for past and future climate.
